University Language Services

Fall 2011 Scholarship Photo Contest

High school students from throughout the US responded when University Language Services put out a call to see college through their eyes.

To enter the ULS scholarship photo contest, high school students were asked to submit a photo they took during a college campus visit and describe in no more than 200 words how that photo represents college to them.

Hadley Swartz, from The Woodlands, Texas, won the $500 grand prize scholarship for the photo she took of her family walking along a path at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, in St. Mary’s City.

Going to college is both “exciting and frightening,” Swartz wrote in the description of her photo. “It begins the process of making your own place in the world and being molded into the person that you are meant to be.”

Grand Prize Winner:

  • Hadley Swartz, a senior at The Woodlands High School, The Woodlands, Texas, for her photo of St. Mary’s College of Maryland, in St. Mary’s City.
