Win a $500.00 College Scholarship from University Language Services!
High school students: ULS wants to know what college means to you — so badly, in fact, that we’re giving away a $500.00 scholarship!
We want to see “college” through your eyes … or at least your camera lens.
What are you looking forward to? What attracts you to a particular college? What expectations, hopes or fears do you have for your college years?
As you’re visiting campuses this year in preparation for that big decision of where to go to college, take some photos and share one with us!
Here’s how the contest works:
The contest will be split into 7 rounds, during which students can submit their photos.
Submit a photo you’ve taken on one of your campus visits along with a description of no more than 200 words of why that photo screams “college” to you.
After each round of the contest, we’ll post six of the best submissions on our website for you to vote on. The two photos that receive the most votes will be the finalists for that round.
Here are the dates you need to know:
The voting period for each round will end at 11:59 a.m. (EST) on the dates specified below:
| Photos Submitted By: | Vote Between: | |
| Round One: | July 8, 2011 | July 11-18, 2011 |
| Round Two: | July 22, 2011 | July 25 – Aug. 1, 2011 |
| Round Three: | August 5, 2011 | Aug. 8-15, 2011 |
| Round Four: | August 19, 2011 | Aug. 22-29, 2011 |
| Round Five: | September 2, 2011 | Sept. 6-13, 2011 |
| Round Six: | September 16, 2011 | Sept. 19-26, 2011 |
| Round Seven: | September 30, 2011 | Oct. 3-10, 2011 |
At the end of the scholarship contest, a panel of judges will choose the winners from the finalists! One grand-prize winner will receive a $500.00 scholarship and the second and third place winners will each receive $100.00 scholarships.
Remember, photos do not need to be taken during the round that they’re submitted, but they do need to have been taken this year (and on a college campus).
Also, please do not submit more than one photo. Photos are eligible for the round they are submitted in as well as all subsequent rounds, so there is no need to submit a photo multiple times!
So be sure to bring your camera along with you as you head off on those college visits this summer. While documenting your potential schools, keep an eye out for things that you think represent college.
Anything goes – the school’s football team, a famous statue, the oldest dormitory on campus or whatever else stands out to you. Have fun and be creative!
