Whether you are an international student in the US or a US student who has studied abroad, attending a school in another country opens your eyes to new landscapes, new people and new ideas.
You could win one of four college scholarships just for letting University Language Services experience these encounters through your eyes … or at least through your camera lens.
Submit a photo you have taken while studying in a country other than the one you call home. Then write a description of no more than 200 words describing where the photo was taken and why it summarizes your experience of studying in another country.
The photo can be of anything from your favorite building on campus to that photo you took while backpacking through the country during spring break. Or maybe you snapped a photo when you were simply hanging out with your friends (just be sure to get their permission to submit the picture first!).
On campus or off, in the classroom or out: It doesn’t matter the subject of the photo so long as you feel it sums up your experience abroad.
One grand prize winner will receive a $500 scholarship.
Three runners-up each will receive $100 scholarships.
Rules of Eligibility:
- All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. (EST) February 28, 2010.
- You must be a legal resident of the United States.
- You must be enrolled in an accredited US college or university either currently or as of October 1, 2010.
- You must have studied outside of the United States for at least one semester at any point of your schooling.
- Your photo and description must be your own original work and must not have been published elsewhere.
- The description of your photo must be no longer than 200 words.
- You agree that your entry becomes the property of University Language Services.
Winners of the scholarship contest will be announced on or about April 1, 2010, and select photos and descriptions will be posted on our website.
