What to Do to Succeed

School success can be defined in many ways, but you can surpass both your academic and social expectations by knowing how to survive your first year in college.

Preparing to Move

Succeeding in college starts with preparing to move to campus. Pack all of the supplies you will need (or know where you can purchase them near campus), and don’t forget to meet your new college roommates before move-in day! If you are an international student, you also will need to obtain a student visa and consider how to manage your money in another country.

Making the Grade

Learn how to choose the right courses, what’s expected of you in your new classrooms, and how to balance academics with the excitement (and freedom) of living on your own.

Thriving in a New Social Environment

College is about so much more than just classes and grades!  Survive and thrive in your new social environment by getting involved in student life and staying safe and healthy. Are you an international student? Get the most from your time abroad by preparing for a new culture even before leaving your native country.
